Grammys Loses Credibility

1 02 2010

Yes.  Disappointing. That’s the word for the week as Grammys ended with a Taylor Swift, sweeping (well, almost) the awards show with the Album of the Year plum for 2010.

Here in San Francisco, the LGBT community could not believe the outcome of the horrendously formatted award show for its primetime air. Can you believe that in three hours of its show, Grammys only given away on TV less than (or a little more than) 10 awards?

The show became a variety show of  substandard performances except of course with Lady Gaga and Elton John, Pink, BEP, David Foster, Mary J. Blige and Andrea Bocelli.

While several blogs have posted their reactions on this year’s Grammys, I can’t sleep very well with the turnout. Swift beat Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas, Dave Matthews Band for the Album of the Year? Really?

Some say it’s a pity award (thanks to Kanye West right). Still, where’s the integrity that the Grammys had had in the past?

Taylor Swift is a sweetie, matter of factly, her “You Belong with Me” dance version is so much better than the album version and definitely better than the acoustic version she rendered during the awards night. San Francisco gay dance clubs even play the song from time to time.

Did you notice that she was off-key during her duet with Stevie Nicks?

Oh well, I grew up watching the Grammys but I guess I don’t look forward to watching next year’s show for sure.

First, the academy snubbed Whitney Houston and Mariah then this…

Ariverderci Grammys!
